Aida Cross Stitch Rulers

When I wasn’t in the mood for gridding, but had long, repetitive sections that were getting tedious to count, I decided I could really use a cross-stitch ruler, so I went looking on amazon for one. Only to discover that none of the ones for sale had lines marked at 10-stitch grid intervals, almost every one was marked with inch intervals “for determining count”, not for counting exact numbers of stitches, or to use as a substitute for gridding.

I even came across a reddit thread where someone was looking for the exact thing I wanted. Only to find the only person who responded with yeah, I have something like that, apparently got that “somewhere” ages ago, and had no idea where you could still get it. Went back to google, searched for a printable instead. Found one for a 3-d printer that was for drawing gridlines with a marker…cool but not quite what I needed. And there were printables for counting how many stitches per inch. But nothing ideal for what I wanted to do, which was to use the ruler to keep track of where I was in a small design without gridding the whole fabric.

So I ended up deciding to take the time to design my own. And since I couldn’t find this elsewhere, I’m sharing it here. This is a first draft, so feedback is welcome if you have suggestions on how to make this more useful. I added both lines for every 5/10 stitches as well as inch markers.

2nd Grade Reading Log

This is an improved version of the reading log worksheet my son’s class uses for writing about what they’ve read. This one adds dotted lines to help with letter sizing and has a little bit more space for long book titles.
